We are currently seeking a Millwright for a local Sudbury client.

Job Overview:

The Maintenance Millwright is responsible for installing, inspecting, adjusting, troubleshooting and repairing equipment. Also responsible to support building maintenance requirements through direct work and management of sub-contractor services. Ensures quality products are being produced and maintains a safe, clean and productive work environment.

Key Job Responsibilities:

• Ensure safety is top priority in daily routine and non-routine work;
• Troubleshoot and repair CNC machine tools;
• Troubleshoot and repair manual machine tools;
• Repair all other types of machines and equipment when units are not working to manufacturers standard;
• Identifies areas of self-development and plays an active role in personal growth;
• Select appropriate material and hardware for task at hand and provide estimates for time and material;
• Maintain and schedule PM activities to meet quality standards;
• Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders;
• Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers, etc.;
• Read and interpret blueprints and drawings;
• Maintain accurate records on completed tasks
• Schedule and conduct machinery and equipment performance testing, record the results and follow up with regular maintenance as required including cleaning/lubricating;
• Assemble and install equipment, using hand tools and power tools;
• Move machinery and equipment, using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks;
• Perform high precision calibration and advanced adjustments using testing instruments;
• Develop machinery and equipment test procedures/checklists to promote equipment maintenance by operators;
• Confer with engineering, supervisory, and manufacturing personnel in order to exchange technical information;
• Observe and listen to operating machines or equipment in order to diagnose machine malfunctions and to determine need for adjustments or repairs;
• Ensure all maintenance log books are maintained according to standard operating procedures;
• Perform building maintenance as required
• Perform cleaning/lubricating of all machinery and equipment as per established cleaning procedures;
• Align machines and equipment, using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, etc.;
• Complete required paperwork, as required.

Customer Service

• Communicate with co-workers and internal customers as needed, including the passing of work from one shift to another.

• Builds sound relationships with the workshop team and internal and external customers to ensure smooth operations.


• Performs other relevant duties as assigned by manager.

Safety and Environment

• Complies with safety policies and applicable government, customer or industry regulations or requirements.

• Maintains orderly workshop and ensures housekeeping requirements are met.

• Strives to find safer ways for customers to work with products.

• Responsibility to identify and report any unsafe work habits, workplace incidents and / or near misses.

• Maintains hand tools and equipment to ensure safe operation.

Personal Leadership

• Maintains local certification requirements.


• College diploma in Millwright, Electrical or Mechanical technician or equivalent.

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in Millwright or Electrical trade.

• Millwright ticket or Journeyman license is an asset.

• Familiarity with repair of manufacturing equipment including lathes, mills, welding equipment, paint equipment.

• Knowledge of machine centers, tools, including their designs, uses and maintenance.

• Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.

• Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of buildings, or other structures to support infrastructure capex projects and general facility repairs.

• Ability to safely operate tools and equipment within production facility or office environment for repairs.

• Ability to read blue prints, drawings, schematics.

• Good communication skills to work with multi-dimensional team.

• Good self-initiative with ability to ask questions or for support when required.

• Willingness to learn.
